 | Game 2 | Players: | | | Arch_Koven - Grey - Chinese | | Myth_Hunhau (High) - Green - Chinese | Both
players got off to a pretty good start although Koven had a rough time
finding his last 4 sheep. To be honest, his map sort of stunk with his
berries on the wrong side of the forest and the sheep + boars in that
odd posistion. I think this caused him some trouble later on down the
line when he was trying to get to the feudal age. He dumped his food a
couple times and decided back and forth between making more villagers.
This put him behind High in getting to the feudal age, but in the long
run I don't think it made that much of an impact. High
also had a few problems when he went for a double boar lure. The loss
of that early villager probably balanced out Koven's map troubles. None
the less he hits the feudal age well before Koven with his econ
streamlined for galley rushing. He doesn't know where Koven's docks are
though and this takes the edge off his time arriving just as Koven is
massing ships. Once again we have something of a stalemate on the
waters between these two players. This
time both of them are gearing up for a landing party. Funny enough they
both for shoot for a similar landing spot. I felt almost like I was
watching their play in a mirror as both players went for very similar
tactics. I guess there are a few differences, namely how Koven sections
off his island for defence whereas High relies more on keeping himself
informed using houses. High's
landing party makes it safely and begins setting up shop. Koven runs
into some problems as High spots him coming and sends his navy in hot
pursuit. Koven manages to escape the navy but after a brief villager
war, he loses his forward builders. Meanwhile High is gearing up for
war with 4 builders but no scout. He starts to probe forward a bit as
Koven beefs up his defenses after he spots High's base. | | High manages to get a base | A vil war ends Koven's forwards | High
is able to get a tower up on Koven's original stone pile and then moves
his archer force down to control the second pile. After a tense battle
with both land and seas forces, Koven manages to kill off the archer
force and reclaim a stone pile. High
as moved in with his army on the other front though and knocks Koven
off his gold pile. He starts to go for the throat with an advancing
tower line. There is one last battle as High moves in for the kill
right above Koven's town center. High manages to get the tower up and
is already on the way to the castle age. Koven struggles for a bit but
after High hits the castle age and he is no where near the upgrade, he
concedes defeat and High emerges as the victor in this premier tourney.
